Monday 21st July … Post-war Britain. Clement Attlee was Prime Minister and Sid and Ethel Baldwin were living at 20 Rendle Street, London W10.
In the early hours of that morning, Ethel and Sid became the proud parents of a baby boy whom they named Michael John.
“Make way world. I’ve arrived!”.
Having learned to play the guitar, I became bass player for a band called “The Arrows”.
On Valentine’s Day, 1963, I progressed to lead singer for the same band, taking the stage name, Mark Rayner.
1964
On Sunday, 28th June, on a train bound for Clacton-On-Sea, Essex. I met a girl called Mary Johnson. That chance meeting completely changed my life forever.
1969
Saturday, March 29th, Mary and I were married at “Our Lady of Peace” church in Burnham, Bucks.
1971
On 4th May, Mary gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Nicola Dawn, at the Canadian Red Cross Memorial Hospital in Taplow, Bucks.
1974
4th January saw the arrival of our first son, Stuart Lee Andrew, born at the same hospital.
1977
Our second son, Christopher John was born and completed our happy family.
1983
Started a consultant and distribution business specialising in the supply of optical low vision aids to the partially sighted.
